The figure is seated in a full meditative lotus position (Padmasana), showcasing extreme physical deprivation from his six years of severe fasting and self-mortification before achieving enlightenment. The sculpture, crafted from what appears to be dark, perhaps sepia-toned or charcoal-gray stone, reveals a profoundly skeletal form. The chest is deeply sunken, with each rib distinctly visible and protruding sharply beneath the skin, highlighting the gauntness. His collarbones are exceptionally prominent, and the sinews and tendons in his neck and arms are clearly delineated, emphasizing the lack of flesh. His face is gaunt and hollowed, with deeply sunken eyes that convey intense spiritual focus and inner calm despite the visible suffering.
