  • Sale! A detailed black stone relief carving, approximately 30 inches in height depicting the reclining form of Lord Vishnu in the Anantashayana pose. The central figure of Vishnu is shown resting peacefully upon the multi-hooded serpent Shesha who forms a protective canopy above his head with his seven hooded heads. Vishnu is adorned with traditional jewelry a crown and elaborate garments with his right hand gently supporting his head while his left hand rests along his body. The composition includes several attendant figures carved into the stele. Seated at Vishnu's feet is his consort Goddess Lakshmi who is shown massaging his foot. Above the serpent canopy a frieze of miniature figures representing the ten avataras of Vishnu is carved horizontally. Below the main reclining figure the serpent's coils are intricately detailed and a small offering stand with ritual items is also visible. The entire sculpture is carved from a single block of deep rich black stone showcasing a matte finish that highlights the intricate detailing and high relief of the carving. The stone's texture is palpable conveying a sense of ancient artistry and reverence. The statue is presented against a plain neutral grey background which isolates the form and draws the viewer's eye directly to the complex narrative and divine iconography depicted in the stone.
