  • Sale! finely carved, light beige sandstone sculpture of Panchamukhi Hanuman stands prominently against a dark, gradient background. The powerful Hindu deity is depicted standing upright, facing forward, with a central, prominent simian (monkey-faced) head that conveys a benevolent yet strong expression. Four additional stylized heads—two on each side—emerge from behind the central one, appearing either human-like or fierce, all contributing to the five-faced aspect of the deity. Hanuman is portrayed with numerous arms, symbolizing his immense strength and various abilities. His primary right hand is raised in the "Abhaya Mudra," a gesture of fearlessness and blessing, with the palm facing forward. His primary left hand firmly grasps an intricately carved Gada (mace), which rests vertically on the base. Other hands, visible extending from his sides, hold various traditional attributes and weapons, including what appears to be a sword, a disc, and possibly a conch or other divine implements. The deity is adorned with an array of elaborate jewelry, including multi-tiered necklaces, ornate armbands, anklets, and a richly detailed waist belt over a finely draped dhoti. Each of the five heads wears a distinct, multi-tiered crown. The entire figure is framed by a large, elaborately carved arch or Prabhavali, which integrates the secondary heads and features delicate scrollwork, floral motifs, and wavy patterns. Hanuman stands on a multi-tiered, lotus-petal shaped pedestal, intricately carved with additional scrollwork and decorative elements at its base. The sculpture showcases exceptional craftsmanship, with deep detailing that brings out the textures of the deity's ornaments, garments, and anatomical features. The stone itself is a beautiful light beige or pale pinkish-brown, with subtle natural reddish-pink veining that adds depth and character to the artwork. The watermark "the Stone Studio" is visible on the lower front of the base, indicating the creator or vendor of this magnificent piece of traditional Indian stone carving.
