Fashioned from light grey or pale reddish-brown sandstone, or a similar natural stone, the piece showcases exceptional craftsmanship and depth. At the heart of the sculpture, Gautam Buddha sits in a peaceful Padmasana (lotus pose), his hands gently resting in the Dhyana Mudra (meditation gesture) in his lap. His face radiates serenity with downcast eyes, reflecting deep meditation and enlightenment. He wears a simple, draped robe, and his hair is meticulously carved into tight curls, crowned by the Ushnisha (cranial bump symbolizing wisdom). Behind his head is a beautifully detailed circular mandorla or halo, adorned with radiating patterns that suggest light or a lotus motif, emphasizing his divine presence. The Buddha is set against an ornate, multi-tiered arched backrest, or Prabhamandala, which is a microcosm of Buddhist cosmology and teachings.
